WHAT IF .. State officials apportioned their state's Electoral College votes – one elector to each House District in that state. The elector would be awarded to the candidate who won the most votes in that House District. The last two electors would be awarded to the winner of the statewide popular vote.
In the 2016 Election, the Electoral College worked exactly as it was designed. It balanced the interests of the large coastal, consumer-driven cities -- for example Los Angeles and New York -- with the interests of the smaller, producer cities and rural farming and industrial populations The Founding Fathers believed the job of electing a President was too important to be left to the people. Both under the original Constitution and the 12th Amendment, that task was delegated to states – not the citizenry. The Electoral College reflects the popular will of voters state by state -- not across state lines.
It is the job of the media to inform the electorate not to inflame or manipulate it. America needs a free, independent, unbiased press corps more today than ever before. If we can't trust our politicians – then we must be able to trust our press to be the ever vigilant guardians of our freedom. American democracy doesn't work without an inquiring press.
Itt is unlikely that John Kennedy would have put himself forward as a candidate in 2016. His personal life was just too messy. But 1960 journalism was still the province of ideas and solutions – not salacious gossip. In 2016 "news" has been transformed into a place where entertainment trumps substance. Irrelevant sensationalism discourages the average voter -- concerned about the economic security and physical safety of his/her own family -- from participating. Don't be fooled -- every vote matters -- even if you can't vote for either Clinton or Trump! PLEASE VOTE!
USA's economy hangs on a strong infrastructure. Infrastructure drives productivity. But USA's infrastructure is crumbling around us. Why? Repairing and modernizing costs money. Where can Congress find the money without increasing the National Debt? Charter an Infrastructure Bank --
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects National Debt will rise to at least 110 percent of GDP by 2036. Before the United States reaches the 100 percent Debt to GDP threshold, no investor, foreign or domestic, will be willing or able to purchase our debt at any interest rate. The combination of political and social instability will swallow everything – including your savings. And yet, unlike Barack Obama, neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump have focused on the rising ratio of Debt to GDP or the risk it presents. No more credit card shopping for Congress and the American people. We can't pay the bill!
We react with understandable empathy, sorrow and fear to breaking news of a mass shooting. Fifty happy Saturday night partiers killed in Orlando. Horrific – yes! Five police officers assassinated in Dallas by one unstable man with a semi-automatic weapon. Unimaginable, heartbreaking – yes. But it turns out to be equal to just two percent of the total incidents of gun violence in 2015! 30,000 Americans died as result of gunfire every year in the last decade.

Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump are all campaigning on a promise to produce jobs – lots of jobs. But none of them have explained how they are going to do it. Maybe we should elect ABC News' David Muir? Unlike all the leading Presidential candidates, he understands that a dynamic economy is a balance of consumption and production!
